The 9th Skills Competition of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2020 – “The Competition of Golden Hands Making Golden Products”

The 9th Skills Competition of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2020 held at the College of Machinery and Irrigation and the South College of Technology and Agro – Forestry from March 2 to March 5, 2020 has been successful. After 8 previous competitions, this is the largest-scale competition at ministerial level and is also the one that brings many unique marks to the organizers and delegations.

The Competition was organized in the context of that the country was actively fighting against COVID-19, but the Steering Committee coordinated with the host schools to successfully complete the assigned tasks, promptly adjusted the organization plans to make sure the quality and especially safety of the Competition under the complicated movements of the COVID-19.

There were 26 schools directly under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with 236 candidates from 19 occupations participating in this Competition. The College of Machinery and Irrigation (Dong Nai province) organized the examination of non-agricultural occupations in the Examination Board No. 1 and Examination Board No. 2 including: Electrical Installation, Refrigeration, Electronics, Wall and Floor Tiling, Bricklaying, Installation of Plumbing and Heating Systems, Automobile Production Engineering, Welding, Graphic Design, IT Network Administration, Mechanical Engineering Design, Web Technology.

The College was highly appreciated by the Steering Committee for developing the preparation plans for: human resources, finance, facilities, equipment, materials, and necessary conditions for the Competition based on the number of candidates and the occupations to ensure quality, efficiency, fairness, saving and being on time as prescribed.

The Competition was also honored to welcome Mr. Le Quoc Doanh – Member of the Party Personnel Committee, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to visit and direct the Competition. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the preparations from both the examination form and content of the occupations, the diverse exams updated with high technology and high professional knowledge; the candidates took the examination very seriously. “The Competition was held at the College of Machinery and Irrigation, one of the few colleges in the country implementing very well the development of green consciousness and habit for teachers and students of the College.  This is also an opportunity for other schools to learn experience from the College. In the upcoming time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will also evaluate and support the schools to have better development, improve the form and content of training quality”, Mr. Le Quoc Doanh, Deputy Minister emphasized.

With the largest scale (236 candidates), the biggest number of occupations (19 occupations), the Competition was organized seriously, objectively and transparently. After two days of the Competition, the achieved results were as follows:

  • Collective

The first prize in the participating delegations belonged to the College of Machinery and Irrigation (with 14 first prizes and 01 third prize); the second prize belonged to Bac Ninh College of Electromechanics and Construction (with 13 first prizes and 01 second prize); the third prize came to the Vietnam  Russia College of Electromechanical and Construction (with 12 first prizes, 01 second prize and 01 consolation prize).

    • Individuals

    First prizes: 128 candidates with 90 points or more (rated on a scale of 100); second prizes: 65 candidates from 85 to less than 90 points; third prizes: 22 candidates from 80 to under 83 points; consolation prizes: 13 candidates from 80 to under 83 points.

With those results, the Steering Committee proposed to award certificates of merit from the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to 4 collectives with outstanding achievements, including the College of Machinery and Irrigation, which is the host of the Competition and won the first prize in the participating delegations; awarding the Minister’s Certificate of Merit to 38 candidates who won the first prizes and got the highest scores in the occupations, 37 lecturers and teachers guiding candidates to achieve the highest prize at the Competition, 16 members of the Steering Committee, the Examination Boards and the host schools successfully completing the task.

The Labor Union of Agriculture and Rural Development awarded certificates of merit to 36 individuals who were members of the assisting boards of the Examination Board and the two host schools that successfully completed the assigned tasks.

28 best candidates were also selected from the Competition (02 candidates for each occupation) of 14 occupations to be held at the Competition to participate in the National Skills Competition in 2020.

The Competition ended with the excitement of teachers and students of the Ministry’s schools, the results of the Competition will be a source of encouragement and promotion for the schools to be more determined in the cause of training high quality human resources for the sector of agriculture and for society in general./.
